Rebecca Krisel

UX Writer & Content Strategist with Data Science/NLP chops in Python, R, & SQL | Project Manager | AI Prompt Writing | Mixed-Methods Researcher

Hi, I’m Rebecca!

I am a data scientist and communications professional who uses programming languages (Python, R, SQL) to study social questions. I excel at developing strategic project proposals, collecting and analyzing large datasets, synthesizing information, and distilling complex ideas for a general audience. I specialize in explaining complex data science information for non-technical audiences, developing content strategies, technical writing for a lay audience, and UX writing. I develop curriculums and teach graduate-level courses in Python at Columbia University and the CUNY Graduate Center.

A collaborative cross-functional team player and leader, I thrive in environments where I get to work with smart, passionate colleagues across multiple departments/disciplines. I enjoy leading team meetings, reviewing common and individual goals, delegating tasks, and troubleshooting roadblocks. A meticulous planner and project manager, I am a master at developing project timelines and consistently meeting tight deadlines (I apply these same skills while traveling!).

I am continuously motivated to solve problems. From actually enjoying solving math problems in grade school to learning how to troubleshoot Python code or figuring out how to get from point A to point B on a subway system in a country that uses a different alphabet, problem solving fuels me.  I am also motivated by an insatiable desire to constantly learn, which goes hand in hand with my motivation to problem solve.

Born and raised in Paris, I’m a French-American dual national and have had the chance to live and work short-term in Argentina, Turkey, Spain, and India. I received a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University. I am nearing the finish line for a Ph.D. in Political Science at the CUNY Graduate Center.
